The past year has been one of great change for our local community school. We have been consulting with our community, planning and creating a new a secondary school with a bright future as school of choice in our local community.

　　In 2012 Debney Park Secondary College became Mount Alexander College – a new school.  Our new name, Mount Alexander College, references the school’s long history in its current location, and its landmark position in the Flemington community.

　　In 2012, Mount Alexander College will implement the following initiatives:

　　Learning and Curriculum

　　A whole of school approach to improving teaching and learning

　　Improved curriculum for maths & science; wider range of arts experiences; expanded music program and newer VCE subjects (VCAL not available in 2012)

　　An improved sports program across the school

　　Year 7, 8 and 12 students will have access to class sets of notebook computers

　　Years 9-11 will have 24/7 access to notebook computers

　　A dedicated Music Centre replacing Soundhouse

　　Dedicated programs to support gifted and talented students

　　A fully functioning autism inclusion and support centre

　　Student Leadership Opportunities

　　School and house captains, a new house system, more student involvement in a new student council and a greater variety of extra-curricular activities

　　Beyond the Classroom

　　Years 7-11 students in a compulsory uniform

　　Opportunities for interstate trips, camps and excursions

　　A special arts development and performance project in year 8

　　Increased enrolment numbers particularly in years 7, 8 and 9

　　Study skills and homework programs

　　Results

　　NAPLAN and VCE results improvement plans in place

　　A fully functioning and supportive Parents & Friends Association

　　A grounds and environment development plan

　　A new, energetic and informative website
